I’m starting a biker gang

Bike

Gas is getting way too expensive. Even the “crap gas” is over $3.00/gal for regular and they’re saying that it’s going to get to $4 or $5 by the summer. There’s no way I can afford that, and so I bought a bike. Most of the places I go are within a few miles from my house. I figure that I can bike to work, church, The Bridge and friends’ houses and only use my car for long distances and inclimate weather. Plus, I suppose it’s good exercise.

I got the bike in the mail today. There was only minor assembly required, which was not difficult in and of itself yet caused me a wee bit of trouble because I lack a Masters degree in bicycle assembly. I tested it out a little, made some minor adjustments to a screw here, a nut there, and I believe I’ll be able to use it tomorrow. I’m having some issue with the derailers not fully accessing all the gears, but I can manage. I think I just have to tighten (or maybe it’s loosen) some wires on the gears. The downside of the whole thing is that I’ll have to get up earlier for work than I usually do so that I can still make it on time. Ah well. I’ve already spent the money, so I’m stuck.

You should join my little Oil-Free Rebellion, get a bike, and become a part of the bike gang. Amazon has some pretty good deals, if you aren’t the type (as I am not) to shop in brick and mortar locales.

oh and REI is a co-op, so if you join - part of the profits go back in your hands at the end of the year. how cool is that?!

I think I will join your bike gang in the summer. Right now it is impossible to get to school on a bike. During the summer it will be easier. Except the bike ride to Roselle will be horrible. LOL!
