A question of forgiveness
I sometimes… ok, often times… like to ask questions that really challenge or make you think about your faith. For me, at least, it helps me to have a stronger foundation in what I believe because I really have to think out and examine why I believe what I believe and what it means in today’s world.
So today I pose a question. I have asked it before in certain small circles, but we never fully let the conversation breathe to it’s fullest. And here it is:
I believe that God always leans in the direction of love and forgiveness for those who are seeking after him. Always. So, if Satan (and I realize the “far-outness” of this scenario) truly repented and sought forgiveness for, well… everything, would God forgive him? And what would that mean? Is the fact that he is made of angelic material and we of earthly change the nature of that forgiveness? And if God would not forgive him, what would that make of his “unending love?”
Also, please don’t just say “yes” or “no.” For me, the “why” is almost more important that the concrete definitives.

“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.” (1 John 1:9)
God is faithful and I believe that He is and will always be true to His word. I would plainly believe that God would forgive anyone who truly repented, regardless of His nature. That would mean, even Satan.
