Three days ago, August 17, was the 25th anniversary of the Compact Disc. Read the history of the CD here.

In a previous blog post I mentioned that my parents, when they bought me my first CD player when I was a child, also bought me two CD’s: Carman’s Radically Saved and Beethoven’s 9th Symphony. And, yes, I am still embarrassed about the Carman CD. Not so much the Beethoven.

And so I ask again, as I did in the previous blog post. On this quarter-century anniversary of the compact disc, what was the first CD you ever bought or received?

Congratulations, Alisha!

Don Herbert, better know to all a Mr Wizard, passed away today, June 12, 2007, at the age of 89.

This is so sad. I grew up with Mr Wizard. I used to love his show in the 80’s. I remember it was on Nickelodeon, and it was ritual to get my “Mr Wizard’s World fix” every day. I was even excited when I found out they were airing reruns at like 5:30am as recent as a few months ago… and yes I did watch some that early.

You will be missed, Mr Wizard.
