We’re right down to the wire with all the preparations for the Retreat. I’ve was trying to get the technical stuff all ironed out and ready for when we get up there.

We use a program called MediaShout for projection. MediaShout is a great program which I love. The problem is that it’s Windows only. So I tried to install it in VMWare. It installed fine and ran the program near perfectly. One thing I didn’t consider is that I need a secondary display to properly project with MediaShout and it didn’t seem to work while virtualizing Windows. So I decided to try out BootCamp.

While installing Windows via BootCamp I got all kinds of errors I won’t go into now. It’s after 3am and I’m fairly tired. Anyway, I ended up rebooting and now the iMac won’t boot at all. It just sits there on a grey screen.

I have most of my data backed up, so at most I might lose two weeks worth of files, which I can live with. I just really need this computer for this weekend.

It’s frustrating. And now I hate Windows even more.

So I just recently signed up for a new web development help site called Sprout. Sprout lets you easily create flash graphics and animations or advertisements right on the Sprout webstie and publish them to anywhere you want. They have easy shortcuts to publish to pretty much any social media website but also give the code so you can put your new flash object just about anywhere your heart desires. It can be a pretty powerful tool.

I made a quick little thing just now. It took all of 5 minutes to design, publish, and get on the web. There’s not too much too this one since I’m on my lunch break and have to be back at work fairly soon, but I will make some more, better designed, graphics later.

I tried to put the results of my Sprout trial right here on the blog, but for some reason it threw off the layout of the entire site when I did it. I’ll figure out why later, but if you want to see the fruits of my (minimal) labor, visit my MySpace.
